Powder coating is a dry powder paint system incorporating thermoset resins, as opposed to liquids, whose catalysts react under temperature. Powder coating is the most environmentally friendly paint system which is the main reason for it’s expanding use around the world. The most broadly used in Australia are polyesters which have good UV stability.

Because they “flow” at temperature the final appearance is an even and unbroken one, very smooth to the touch and can be supplied in very matt or very glossy finishes. Because of these “flow” characteristics powder coatings deliver extremely good adhesion to the base metal which is superior to most conventional paint systems. Powder Finishes are also amongst the toughest paints systems available.

The technology of powder has advanced considerably in the last decade where currently most of the world’s auto manufacturers are either already finishing cars in powder or are well advanced towards it. BMW have been finishing most of their range in clear powders for some time.

The expectation under Australian Building Code is for a 50 year life cycle on Domestic & Commercial construction. Powder Coatings are well able to meet these expectations when selected carefully with the service category in mind. A clear specification referring to appropriate Australian Standards and the warranty requirements which reflect the expectations of our clients will ensure compliance.

Powders are available in a huge range of stock colours and can be manufactured to match any colour. They are also produced for specific end uses:

1. Anti graffiti coatings Colour & gloss retention from 5 years to 25 years

2. Textures, alligator skin, hammertones, watersilks and cobwebs

3. Pearl finishes Colour Bond matches

POWDER COATINGS DO NOT FAIL!  Failures come from either the incorrect choice of powder for the end use or from inadequate preparations. Electro Seal has nearly 40 years experience and is expert in averting failures. We are happy to assist you in reducing the chance of your next job failing
